About

Multiharmonics App is based on ACT and DPF (Data Processing Framework). This App leverages DPF’s “fft_multi_harmonic_minmax” to improve the performance of the operations while also allowing a more accurate way of combining harmonic result than SRSS, where phase information is lost. Based on the previous experience and the potential usage on other applications, the ANSYS team decided to create a general use extension that uses this same approach to expose multiharmonic analysis based on the multi-step harmonic capabilities in Mechanical and the DPF operator. This extension aims to promote and facilitate the usage of multiharmonic analysis for customers to improve their design process with more detailed periodic loading. Some of the potential applications for Multiharmonic App are:

  • Harmonic derived result computation (e.g., Von-Mises stress)
  • Periodic excitations (more than a single harmonic) as in aero or auto powertrain modeling
  • Turbomachinery forced response workflow
  • Gear modeling for powertrain applications
  • Linear periodic transient effects.
